Pulsatile Tinnitus is Another Form

Pulsatile tinnitus is a different form of tinnitus where the sound inside the ears is pulsating like the beat of the heart. When we hear loud noise sometimes we get so worked up and get irritated, what is going to happen when the sound is taking place inside our ears and for the whole time? Just imagine the state of the sufferer.

Pulsatile tinnitus
Tinnitus can be categorized into two types, one is pulsatile tinnitus and the other is non-pulsatile tinnitus. Pulsatile tinnitus is induced by the movement of muscle inside the ear or due to some other problems. The sound caused by pulsatile tinnitus is of high pitch which you can hear inside the canal of your ear. The sound generally consists of either contracting of muscles or flow of blood in the blood vessels inside the ear. On the other hand non-pulsatile tinnitus is caused by nerve problems.

Pulsatile tinnitus is not so serious and oftentimes the ringing inside the ear vanishes on its own. This type of tinnitus through not a serious matter can be symptom of something more serious.

Causes of tinnitus

Pulsatile tinnitus can affect either the outer, inner or the middle part of the ear. In this type of tinnitus the sound that is created is like a wave. The pitch of the sound gets loud and then goes soft and again loud. The intensity of the sound goes up and then down alternately. Sometimes the sound may be like the roaring of a lion which pulsate with the beating of your heart.

Tinnitus Control Treatment
Tinnitus is generally of two kinds subjective and objective. In the subjective type of tinnitus only the sufferer hears all the noise inside the ear. Objective tinnitus is rare in which the doctor can hear the noise with the help of special equipment. There are many ways that can trigger tinnitus, some of the causes are:

• Drinking alcohol
• Ear wax
• Medication
• High blood pressure
• Ear infection
• Dental problems
• Eardrum rupture
• Injuries
• Change in air pressure

Apart from the above causes, there are some ailments that have tinnitus as side effect, these diseases are:

• Meniere’s disease
• Acoustic neuroma
• Thyroid
• Anemia, labyrinthitis, otosclerosis
• Any other disease of the nerve

Pulsatile tinnitus is rare and is triggered mostly by constricted blood flow in the blood vessels of the ears. Since it is related to flow of blood the pulsation takes place with the beat of the heart, which is pumping the blood. The veins in the ears get withered due some reason which triggers off noises in the ear. This noise is not a constant type of noise, it increases and decreases like a wave form. Some women develop pulsatile tinnitus during pregnancy.

At times tinnitus is caused over time. Exposed to noise pollution over the years tend to erode the hearing potential of people. Exposed to high sound goes on creating small damages to the cochlea which leads to hearing loss. It is assumed that when the brain stops getting signals from the cochlea, it starts creating noise to make up for it.

At times some tinnitus cure on its own, but at other times treatment is necessary to get it away. When the first signs of tinnitus shows it is better to consult a doctor in order determine that it is not a symptom of some other serious disease.
